Silkkikuikka fabric cotton, from Finnish brand Marimekko, is a heavy, unbleached fabric printed natural indigo. The pattern was designed in 1961 by Maija Isola. The design process stretched over many evenings at Marimekko's printing factory, when Isola sat and painted to the rhythm of music, until she eventually found the pattern that became Silkkikuikka. The fabric is printed in Helsinki, with a printing process using plant-based indigo dye, extracted from Finnish woad. With the Silkkikuikka fabric, you can, for example, sew matching curtains and cushion covers to give your living room a consistent style.
