Kastehelmi is a beautiful tableware series by Iittala, made of mouth-blown glass. The peculiar patterns that characterise the Kastehelmi collection are inspired by the dewdrops that shimmer like a pearl necklace in the morning sun, which is where Kastehelmi, which means dewdrop in Finnish, gets its name.
The peculiar method used to create the beautiful patterns of the iconic Kastehelmi series was discovered by Oiva Toikka, when he was looking for a way to hide dividing lines in the glass. The unique Kastehelmi series was originally launched by Iittala in 1964, and was reintroduced in 2010.
The drinking glasses of the Kastehelmi series come in two different variants, one with and one without stem. These beautiful designs are both perfect for serving a fresh glass of juice in the morning, as well as for more festive drinks.
The Kastehelmi collection is a highly popular series of tableware and decoration by the world renowned brand Iittala. The collection consists of many popular pieces such as the Kastehelmi cake stand, plates and bowls.
Yes, most of the products included in the Iittala Kastehelmi series are safe to wash in the dishwasher. However, Iittala recommends a maximum dishwashing temperature of 50 °C.
Caution! The tealight holders of the Kastehelmi series should not be washed in the dishwasher.
The Kastehelmi collection is available in lots of beautiful colours that are as beautiful by themselves as they are easy to combine in order to create colourful sets with a unique and personal touch. The Kastehelmi collection is available in a range of both lighter and darker tones.
Along with the beautiful interior decorations and tableware made of mouth-blown glass, the Kastehelmi collection also includes paper serviettes and even kitchen towels featuring the same beautiful pattern found of the glassware items.
The designer behind the Kastehelmi series has also the creator of Birds by Toikka, which has become a series of beautiful and highly appreciated collectors' items.
