Gubi sees itself as a treasure hunter and explorer, reviving and revamping forgotten design gems of the past on one hand, and creating thought-provoking design icons of tomorrow on the other.
Gubi explores designs from as early as 1930 all the way to the 70s. Each decade has had its own treasures to discover that have contributed to the design of some of Gubi’s most iconic ranges, including the Bestlite lamp range, the Semi lamp and the Grasshopper lamps.
Gubi’s extensive assortment includes both furniture and lighting of great and beautiful designs. Their lighting range is particularly renowned, with many classic designs, such as the Pedrera ABC table lamp, Semi pendant light and of course the iconic Bestlite. The beautiful, yet functional design of the bestlite is as relevant today as when it was designed in the 1930’s.
Another popular lighting design is the Cobra lamp, which was originally designed in the 1950’s by Greta M. Grossman. The name derives from the lamp head resemblance to the stretched neck of a cobra. Both Bestlite and Cobra have received a number of awards for their unique and innovative designs.
Gubi’s exceptional range is both wide and diverse, and includes everything from mirrors and lamps to tables and chairs.
With many years of experience they have manage to produce numerous design favourites throughout the decades. Gubi’s signature designs have gained popularity not only for their beautiful aesthetics and quality production, but also for the stories they tell and are associated with.

An elegant pendant light designed by Claus Bonderup and Torsten Thorup in 1968, as a reaction to soft organic shapes that were popular in Denmark at the time.
Bestlite, known for being Winston Churchill’s favourite table lamp. Originally designed by Robert Dudley Best in 1930.
Gubi is an exciting and dynamic brand that produces their own ideas and designs, while reintroducing classic designs from the past. Their management of design history is both innovative and exciting. Gubi’s diverse range of furniture and lighting therefore includes many iconic designs that have a story to them.
Even though the designs of Gubi’s products originally come from different decades, there is still a common thread through their range. The products are characterized by their simple shapes, thought-provoking designs, unexpected material choices and innovative production techniques. Gubi is a respected brand in the design world, known to create quality pieces in collaboration with architects and designers world-wide.
The Danish brand was founded in 1967 by Gubi and Lisbeth Olsen and is today run by the sons Jacob and Sebastian. The Gubi assortment includes lamps, mirrors and other interior, together creating an eclectic and exciting blend of products that blur the lines between old and new.
