5 festive cocktail recipes to help bring in the New Year!

Toast the new year with these festive cocktail recipes! We have five delicious and simple New Year's drinks that are just as good with or without alcohol. Wintery seasonal flavours such as elderflower, cinnamon and rosemary take centre stage – we hope you enjoy!

1.   LUXURY ELDERFLOWER COCKTAIL

This luxurious and fresh elder cocktail recipe makes the perfect welcome drink or as an accompaniment to dessert!

Ingredients for 1 cocktail: 

  • 40 ml vodka 
  • 60 ml elderflower cordial
  • 1/5 squeezed lemon
  • 1 egg white
  • Star anise to garnish
  • Ice 

How to: Mix vodka, elderflower cordial, a squeeze of lemon, egg white and ice in a shaker. Shake until you get a deliciously fluffy foam. Pour the drink into an elegant cocktail glass and garnish with a whole star anise.

2. RASPBERRIES AND CHAMPAGNE

Champagne makes the ideal base for any New Year's cocktail, it's bubbly, sparkling and with the perfect touch of luxury. This sweet and bubbly cocktail makes a great welcome drink for your guests.

Ingredients for one cocktail:

  • 150 ml champagne or sparkling wine
  • 10ml raspberry liqueur
  • 10ml Pomegranate syrup (Grenadine)

How to: Fill a cocktail glass with the champagne or sparkling wine, add the raspberry liqueur and pomegranate syrup (grenadine), stir to combine and garnish with fresh raspberries and mint leaves.

3. FRESH GIN & TONIC WITH ROSEMARY & CUCUMBER 

The classic Gin & Tonic drink is perfect for all festivities - here in an updated wintery version with rosemary and cucumber slices together with pressed lime. This festive cocktail is light and easy to drink, it would make a great accompaniment to your starters.

Ingredients for 1 cocktail: 

  • 40 ml gin 
  • 10 ml tonic water 
  • Pressed lime 
  • Cucumber to garnish 
  • Rosemary to garnish
  • Ice 

How to: Mix any gin with Tonic water and then top with ice, pressed lime, cucumber slices and a sprig of rosemary - how fresh does that sound?

4. CHRISTMAS GIN & TONIC

Keep the Christmas atmosphere alive during your New Year's party with this very festive cocktail recipe with cranberry, Gin & Tonic with hints of cinnamon and rosemary.

Ingredients for 1 cocktail: 

  • 40 ml gin 
  • 80 ml Cranberry juice
  • 15 ml rosemary syrup
  • Splash of tonic water
  • Cinnamon stick
  • Garnish with rosemary

How to: Place a cinnamon stick or a pinch of ground cinnamon into a cocktail shaker, add cranberry juice, gin, rosemary syrup and ice. Shake cocktail for 30 seconds and pour into glass. Serve with a sprig of rosemary and a splash of tonic water.

Top tip: coat the edge of the glass with sugar for an extra festive presentation.

Rosemary syrup: 

  • Sugar 
  • Water 
  • Fresh sprigs of rosemary

How to: Add equal parts water and sugar to a pan, simmer until sugar has dissolved and add a few big sprigs of rosemary, allow to cool and remove the rosemary.

5. SPARKLING BERRIES

No New Year is complete without a bit of bubbly, right? This refreshing and festive cocktail recipe works all year round as the berries can be easily replaced depending on the season and occasion.

Ingredients for 1 cocktail: 

  • 40 ml vodka
  • Sparkling wine
  • Frozen berries
  • Lemon and Lime soft drink
  • Sliced lemon
  • Ice

How to: Fill a cocktail shaker with your choice of frozen berries, ice and vodka and give it a good shake (we used seasonal black currents and red currents which gave a wonderful sour kick). Strain the berry infused vodka into a cocktail glass and top with equal parts sparkling wine and lemon and lime drink. Garnish with sliced lemons!

4 festive cocktail recipes for new year - Riedel O Pinot-Nebbiolo wine glass.

Top tip: add a few thin slices of lemon to the festive cocktails for a fine garnish and to add a nice sour flavor.
