Aside from winning multiple awards, the Margrethe bowl has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, N.Y. and has even been printed on postage stamps.

In 2020, Rosti celebrated that more than 25 million bowls had been sold in their Margrethe collection.

How to care for your Rosti melamine products

Rosti’s large assortment of kitchenware includes many products made from melamine. Melamine has been a widely used plastic material for decades and is mainly used in kitchen products. Melamine has many good properties that make it suitable for daily use in the kitchen and contact with food. When caring for your melamine products, always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. It is important to take note of the following:

  • Melamine should not be used in the microwave or freezer.
  • Melamine products should never be exposed to hot food at 100 ° C for more that 15 minutes. For example, you should not use a melamine cooking spoon when cooking a porridge, or never leave it in the porridge for more that 15 minutes.
  • However melamine is very suitable for serving, for example, hot potatoes or a cup of coffee, as the temperature in this case decreases over time and is never constantly more that 100 ° C for more than 15 minutes.
  • Do not store food in melamine products at room temperature for more than 3 days.

The History of Rosti

Rosti’s roots go back to the 1940’s in Denmark, when Rolf Fahrenholtz and Stig Jørgensen started making buttons from injected moulded plastic. In the late 1940’s they started making melamine products and in 1955, the legendary Margrethe bowls were designed by Jacob Jensen of Sigvard Bernadotte and Acton Bjørns design studio in Copenhagen.
