Description
PH 4/3 pendant lamp Ø40 cm is both a modern and a classic ceiling lamp designed in 1966 by Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen. All three shades are made of die-cast aluminium with a white lacquered inside that directs soft, completely glare-free light downwards. The iconic three shade system was created by Danish designer Poul Henningsen, who in collaboration with Louis Poulsen designed the first PH lamps for an exhibition in Paris in 1925-1926. He used a scientific approach, as the lamp is built on the basis of the logarithmic spiral, a mathematical curve that often occurs in nature and gives an even distribution of light over the entire curve of the shade. The numbers of PH lamps refer to the size of the screens, and the letters come from the designer's initials. There is a wide range of PH lamps to explore.
