With its graphic letter products, the Danish brand Design Letters has taken the world by storm and laid the foundation for the typographic trend that has become so popular in recent years. The characteristic letters are found today on bowls , cups, cutlery and kitchen towels among other household items.
Former interior journalist and copywriter Mette Thomsen founded Design Letters in 2009. As she had always had a great passion for fonts and letters, the business idea was clear: She would create playful and stylish products with a modern, graphic design and clear connection to letters.
The first product was launched as a series of wooden letters for the wall, but the big breakthrough came only a few years later, when Design Letters got the rights to use the architect Arne Jacobsen’s classic font from 1937.
Over time, Design Letters have expanded their range with other Arne Jacobsen motifs. The popular typographic elements are constantly complemented with new and interesting interior products making Design Letters constantly relevant.
Arne Jacobsen was one of Denmark’s most famous designers and is considered a pioneer in functionalism. It was his grandson, Tobias Jacobsen, who designed the cups with his father’s letters on them for Design Letters.
