1. Shooting star New Year's party decorations

New Year should be a glamorous affair, and nothing says glamour better than extravagant table decorations. Bring this New Year party idea to life by creating a hovering cloud of balloons. We filled ours with helium, but you could also simply attach them to the ceiling.

Tie paper stars to the balloons so they hang gracefully over the table like falling stars. Keep the colour scheme simple with white or opaque balloons filled with confetti, and add touches of gold or bronze for an elegant yet glamorous New Year’s party vibe.

New year party ideas - decorate the table with balloons and hanging stars in a simple colour scheme of white and gold.

A simple colour scheme of bronze and rose gold gives this new year celebration a touch of glamour.

2. Go all out for your New Year's table setting

If there’s any time of year to pull out all the stops, it’s New Year. Your table setting sets the tone for the celebration, so this New Year’s party idea is all about making it memorable. Keep it simple and elegant with white tableware and gold accents, or go more opulent with playful touches like feathers, stars, and glitter.

Looking for a cooler, more modern vibe? Try a silver-themed New Year’s table setting with varying shades of grey for an elevated and stylish party feel.

    3. Name tags & napkin folding

Personal name tags and neatly folded napkins are the perfect finishing touches for any New Year’s table setting. For this New Year’s party idea, we paired Ripple champagne glasses with the Bernadotte place card holders from Georg Jensen, where the fluted details on each complement each other beautifully, adding a refined and cohesive touch to your celebration.

      4. A grand centrepiece for the table

If you really want to wow your guests, invest in a beautiful vase and an equally stunning bouquet of flowers this New Year. For this New Year’s party idea, we kept the colour palette simple with dark greens and grasses with a couple of pale yellow flowers instead of a multitude of colourful blooms but who says you can’t enjoy cut flowers in the middle of winter?

        5. Opulent oysters

These New Year’s party ideas are all about luxury, and that includes the food. Welcome your guests with a plate of fresh oysters to delight their taste buds. Of course, we understand that not everyone enjoys oysters, so if you’re looking for other ideas for your New Year’s party menu, look no further, we’ve got five delicious canapé recipes to inspire your celebration here.

          6. Welcome drinks for your New Year party

Invite your guests in from the cold with a tasty welcome drink. For this New Year’s party idea, you could serve a glass of champagne with a touch of festive sparkle or a delicious homemade cocktail—either way, it’s the perfect way to kick off a stylish celebration.

New Year wouldn’t be New Year without a resolution, whether you intend to keep it or not! We love this New Year’s party idea: provide some paper, pens, and a small box, and have each guest write down a resolution. For extra fun, turn it into a game and let guests pick resolutions for each other, adding a playful twist to your celebration.

              9. Create your own New year's photo-booth

This popular New Year’s party idea works perfectly for any celebration. Start by creating a sign for your photo booth using a pinboard, we used the Design Letters board with matching letters. Fill a jar with fun props, hang some glittery bunting, and voilà, you’ve got your very own photo booth to capture all the festive memories!

Create a photo corner and decorate it with lots of balloons!

                10. Glittery New Year bottles

On New Year’s Eve, it’s always fun to add a little extra sparkle - yes, we’re talking glitter! For this New Year’s party idea, why not turn your wine bottles into part of your table décor? Peel off the labels and decorate them with glitter for a festive, eye-catching touch.

                Instructions:

                • Soak the bottle in warm water for a little while, then scrub off the labels with a small scouring pad and rapeseed oil. The oil helps remove even the last bits of glue.
                • Wipe the oil off with paper to dry the bottle.
                • Write your design or message on the bottle using a glue stick.
                • Pour glitter over the glued areas.
                • Tap off the excess glitter and let the glue dry—done!

This simple DIY tip is a perfect way to make your New Year’s Eve table sparkle and shine.

                11. Build an eye catching champagne tower

This classic New Year’s party idea is sure to wow your guests. Build a champagne tower as small or as grand as you like, fill it with sparkling wine, and enjoy the show!

For a stylish touch, place the tower alongside oysters and canapés so your guests can nibble while they sip.
