Folke Arström was a Swedish industrial designer, painter and silver-smith. For several years he worked at the chief designer and art manager at Gense, where he designed classics such as the Thebe, Facette and Focus de Luxe ranges. Focus de Luxe was designed in 1955 and was an instant success worldwide, especially in the United States. The New York Times listed the retro-cutlery set as one of the 100 best designed products in modern time.
Folke Arström was a functionalist, known for his simple and elegant designs. He understood the needs of the market, and quickly became a role model in design. For Arström it was important that his designs had purpose.
