Erja Hirvi

Erja Hirvi is known for her bold and playful textile designs for renowned brands including the likes of Marimekko. Kicking her career of in the industry was an education in textile design at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. Since 1995 she has been part of Marimekko’s design team, designing iconic patterns including Lumimarja, Keisarinna, Kaakaopuu and Purnukka.

Erja Hirvi finds her inspiration in Nordic nature; something that is evident in many of her designs. With a playful twist, she manages to portray the shifts in seasons with a mix of simplistic and intricate detailing.

Many of her designs have been in Marimekko’s permanent pattern collection for years, mainly used for textile designs, but sometimes also seen on bags and clothing.
