About Essem Design

At Essem Design you can find clever and stylish furniture for the hallway. The hallway is considered to be one of the most important rooms in a home as it is the first place where guests are received and made to feel welcome. Essem Design creates furniture that seamlessly combines function and shape for this influential space.

The story behind Essem Design takes us back to 1937 on a rainy, autumnal evening in Anderstrop, Småland. Gunnar Bohlin was busy working at his desk on an idea for a hat stand that was made from melted aluminum. This became the starting point for Skoglungs metal works, which in 2002 took the name Essem Design. For almost a century, they have been associated with simple, functional hallway furniture such as wall chairs, hat racks and hooks.

For Essem Design, sustainability is the key word and they have a strict policy on the environment. All products are made locally in Anderstorp and Essem Design chose only environmentally friendly materials where possible.
