The charming Shorebird birds in black were designed by the Icelandic designer Sigurjón Pálsson for Normann Copenhagen. The birds are made of lacquered oak with thin legs made of lacquered steel. At first glance the design may look simple and clean, but the designer has carefully designed the birds to correspond to the type of bird in size, positioning of the legs, length of the neck and body language, giving each bird its only personality and look. The birds are inspired by three different types of birds. T he large one is inspired by the curlew, with its long neck and distinguished downwardly bent beak, its long legs take slow steps while looking cautiously around. The middle-sized bird is inspired by the active redshank, it is an elegant bird that is often to be found with other wandering birds. The smallest bird is inspired by the sandpiper, a social little bird often to be found in large flocks.
