PH 5 MINI pendant lamp from Louis Poulsen is, as the name suggests, a smaller version of the legendary PH 5. It emits a completely glare-free light both downwards and to the sides, which means that it works perfectly over the dining table. Poul Henningsen designed it with three shades that direct the light downwards and another, trumpet-like shade at the top that lights the area above the three lower shades. A distinctive feature of this lamp is the small coloured shades that have been added to provide the user with superior lighting comfort. The iconic three-shade system was designed by Poul Henningsen in 1925-1926 when he, in collaboration with Louis Poulsen, designed the first PH lamps for an exhibition in Paris. He used a scientific approach, as the lamp is built on the basis of the logarithmic spiral, a mathematical curve that occurs in many places in nature. This gives an even distribution over the entire curve of the shade. The numbers of PH lamps refer to the size of the shades and the letters come from the designer's initials. This pendant lamp is available in a variety of colours so you can find the one that fits in your home. Versions in metal are left untreated, so will eventually have a beautiful patina.
