The round Pieni Unikko cushion Ø42 cm from the Finnish brand Marimekko bears the beautiful Unikko pattern in mute hues of beige and white. The Unikko pattern was originally designed by Maija & Kristina Isola in 1964 after Marimekko's founder, Armi Ratia, announced an all-out ban on floral patterns. Despite this, Maija Isola managed to persuade her otherwise with her stylized depiction of majestic poppy flowers — thus, the Unikko pattern was born. Since that time, the iconic design has become something of a signature pattern for Marimekko, and a well-loved aesthetic by many all over the world.
