The Moominmamma Moominspoon is part of the gorgeous Vilopaus collection, a seasonal service set adorned with various Moomin characters. These particular illustrations are from Tove Jansson's comic book series "Moominvalley Turns Jungle" from 1956. The story recounts the time when the Moomin homeland was hit with an enormous heat wave. The shaft of the spoon bears a gorgeous decorative motif of Moominmamma making preparations to spend the night outdoors with the rest of the Moomin family. Moominmamma loves to sleep out in nature — she's thrilled that she's convinced the whole family to join her outside. Out on their adventure, Little My finds a box of tropical seeds: Moomintroll, always inquisitive, enthusiastically asks Moominmamma to plant the seeds — little could he imagine the consequences they would wake up to in the morning!
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Tove Jansson's first Moomin book, Moomin Characters Ltd. has created the #VÅRTHAV campaign in collaboration with the John Nurminen Foundation. Whenever you purchase any of the gorgeous pieces from the seasonal Vilopaus collection, you are contributing urgent aid to making the Baltic Sea a cleaner and more environmentally-protected place. The cause is a great way to take care of our planet and safeguard our natural heritage. For each product purchase, one euro is donated to the initiative — the sum is enough to remove about 40 kg of harmful blue-green algae that can generate toxins in the water. The campaign aims to raise a total of one million euros for this important cause.
